Marmot principles:

Liverpool City Council’s Leader’s Roundtable on 25th October 2024 in response to the motion “Good income, Good work, Good business” agreed by full Council on 18th September 2024 focused on tackling in-work poverty and supporting purpose-driven businesses.

Key actions discussed included helping public sector organisations and businesses achieve Real Living Wage and Living Hours accreditation, defining “Good Business” for Liverpool, and continuing to support the most disadvantaged communities. Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Hope University will offer business support and education, while the Liverpool Commonwealth Association will prioritise small businesses from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

These efforts contribute to Liverpool’s goal of becoming a Marmot City by 2025, improving health outcomes through better income and a fairer economy.
