Marmot Accreditation

Liverpool is a Marmot City. This recognises the city’s commitment to tackling health inequalities and improving the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age.

The Marmot City accolade was presented by Professor Sir Michael Marmot in April 2025. While this was an important milestone, it is only the start of Liverpool’s journey.

To continue strengthening local efforts, Fairer, Healthier Liverpool (FHL) is developing a network of Marmot Organisations.

Apply for Marmot Organisation Accreditation

Fairer, Healthier Liverpool Marmot Organisations are organisations that are actively working to reduce health inequalities in Liverpool.

They are guided by the evidence-based Marmot Principles and focus on practical action, partnership working and measurable impact to help create healthy, sustainable communities.

The application form allows organisations to describe their work, demonstrate how it aligns with the Marmot Principles, and provide evidence of impact.

The application takes around 30–45 minutes to complete. You can save your progress and return at any time.
