The Poverty Research Advocacy Network
PRAN, an anti-poverty network established in Liverpool, advocates for poverty reduction, facilitates research and influencing policies to support disadvantaged communities.

Marmot principles:
- Strengthen the role and impact of Ill Health Prevention
PRAN’s work aligns closely with the eight Marmot principles. In just one year, PRAN has organised seven events. The ranged from workshops and conferences to panel discussions. Attracting local, regional, and national participants. These events have addressed key issues such as the cost-of-living crisis. While also equipping attendees with skills in partnership-building, media engagement, and fundraising.
By facilitating networking and collaboration, PRAN strengthens social networks and community engagement. This enables collective action for change and improvements in health inequalities. It also raises awareness of the impact of poverty on families and children. Supporting initiatives that reduce economic inequality through knowledge-sharing and capacity-building.
Beyond its events, PRAN has launched a podcast series. The Cost of Living Chronicles, explores the root causes of poverty and inequality. Featuring expert voices on health equity. This aligns with the Marmot principle of creating and developing healthy and sustainable communities. The network has also produced newsletters and blogs to share updates. Through engagement with a wide range of organisations and individuals, PRAN has fostered valuable collaborations. Such as its involvement in Liverpool’s WoWFEST. PRAN has made a significant contribution to the national dialogue on poverty and social injustice. By championing these initiatives, PRAN continues to accelerate the fight against poverty. Advocating for a more equitable society and emphasising the critical role of health inequalities in driving social progress.
